What to Bring

Fitted and flat bed sheets are provided. You must bring your own blanket, pillow, and towel.

New this year:

  1. You are welcome to dress in costume for the opening festivites at Castle OLSSI, the Mead and Greet!
  2. The live OLSSI book club will meet on Monday night to discuss the book The Bad-Ass Librarians of Timbuktu: And Their Race to Save the World’s Most Precious Manuscripts by Joshua Hammer.

Those and other items that are often forgotten or may make your visit more comfortable include:

  • Alarm clock
  • Bath floor mat
  • Bath towel
  • Blanket for sleeping
  • Book club book: The Bad-Ass Librarians of Timbuktu: And Their Race to Save the World’s Most Precious Manuscripts by Joshua Hammer
  • Book you like to share at the Readers Advisory Roundtable
  • Bottle, cup, or mug to tote beverages
  • Clothes for hot, cool, or rainy weather
  • Clothes hangers
  • Costume or garb for Mead and Greet
  • Flip-flops for shower
  • Garbage bag (e.g. a plastic grocery bag)
  • Hand towel
  • Hat
  • Keurig K-cups (original style) to use in our machine
  • Laundry soap and softener if you wish to use the free dorm machines
  • Money for Monday night dinner
  • Nightlight, lamp, flashlight, or book light to keep by the bed
  • Pillow
  • Sleep mask, in case of a street light outside your bedroom window
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Sweater or jacket for cold rooms
  • Tissues
  • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, etc.)
  • Umbrella, poncho, or raincoat
  • Utensils, if you wish to cook or eat in the dorm kitchen
  • Walking shoes
  • White Elephant Bingo gift (wrapped, for the optional game; should be unusual or odd)
